3440ORDINANCE NO. 3440 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AMENDING -, TITLE 61 CHAPTER 6.56 OF THE ANAHEIM MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING THERETO NEW SECTIONS 6.56.050, 6.56.060 AND 6.56.070 PERTAINING TO SWIMMING POOLS. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That Title 6, Chapter 6.56 of the Anaheim Municipal Code be, and the same is hereby, amended by adding new Sections 6.56.050, 6.56.060 and 6.56.070 to read as follows: "6.56.050 Clarity of Water - The recirculation and puri ication system shall be operated and maintained so as to keep the pool water clean and clear. Under no circumstances shall the pool be used when a black disc, 6 inches in diameter, on a white field, when placed at the bottom of the pool at the deepest point, is not clearly visible from the sidewalks of the pool at all distances up to 10 yards from such discs. Such a pool shall be closed and shall not be reopened until the water is clean and clear, and upon specific approval of the health officer. 6.56.060 Cleanliness of Pool - Floating scum, sputum, and debris s a not be allowed to accumulate in the pool; skimmers - where provided, and water levels shall be maintained and operated to continuously remove such material. The bottom and sides of the pool shall be cleaned as often as necessary to keep in a clean condition. The sides and bottom of pools, decks, and other surfaces shall be kept free of slime and algae to prevent unnecessary slipperiness and danger of accidents or drownings. 6.56.070 Enforcement - When a private swimming pool becomes •foul or stagnant through lack of main- tenance as described in the above sections, the Health Officer and/or Building Official shall notify the owner in writing to abate the hazard within forty-eight (48) hours. Failure to comply within specified time shall be a misdemeanor." SECTION 2. SEVERABILITY. The City Council of the City of Anaheim hereby declares that should any section, paragraph, sentence or word of this chapter of the Code hereby adopted be declared for any reason to be invalid, it is the intent of the Council that it would have passed all other portions of this chapter indepen- dent of the elimination herefrom of any such portion as may be declared invalid. -1- SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be printed once within fifteen (15) days after its adoption, in the Anaheim Bulletin, a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and cir- culated in said City, and thirty (30) days from and after its final passage it shall take effect and be in full force.
