A RESOLUTION OF TI?E CITY COUNCIL OF TIIy CI?'Y
OF AivAi-iEII~I DESIGtyATING CERTAIN CT~1~Y-O+1TtVED
PROPERTY AS A HISTORICAL LIBRARY, I,ESEARCH
CENTER AIQD 1~'iUSEUNI.
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim is the owner of certain
real property and improvements l~nown as the Carnegie Library
located at 241 South Anaheim Boulevard, Anahein, California;
and
WHEP.EP.S, in 1907, seventy-five citizens raised the
funds necessary to purchase said land for purposes of construc-
ting a public library thereon; and
WHEREAS, the suns of $10,0.00.00 was donated by Andrew
Carnegie for the purpose of constructing said library; and
WHEREAS, said library was built in 1900 at the above
mentioned location and named the Carnegie Library; and
WHEREAS, said library was thereafter maintained by the
City of Anaheim as a public library until recent years when said
property has been utilized as the. City Personnel Department; and
WHEREAS, within th.e near future said Personnel Depart-
ment will be relocated to the new Civic Center Complex now under
construction; and
WHEP.EAS, the City of Anaheim desires, effective upon
the relocation of said Personnel Department, to designate saki
Carnegie Library as a historical library research center an:~
museum; and
ti~7IIEREAS, numerous private citizens, together with t'ze
Anaheim Redevelopment Agency, have indicated a willingness to
financially participate in the aforesaid. project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE Iii' I'.ESOLV"t~D by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that, effective upon the relocation of the
City Personnel Department from said property, the Carnegie Library
located at 241 South Anaheim Boulevard, Anaheim, California, be,
and the same is hereby, designated as a historical library, re-
search center and museum.
