A RESOLUTION OF THE .CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM REQUESTING THE ORANGE COUNTY
DIVISION OF THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES
TO MAKE A CHANGE IN ITS VOTING POLICY.
WHEREAS, the National League of Cities adopted a
policy effective January. 1, 1977, whereby larger cities are
given more votes than smaller cities, and this policy change
gives the cities a proportionate number of votes based upon
their population and size; and
WHEREAS, the Orange. County Division of .the League
of California Cities allows all cities one vote regardless
of size; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim feels that the Orange
County Division of the League of California Cities should
adopt a policy consistent with that of the National League
of Cities; and
WHEREAS, the Orange County Division of the League
of California Cities has adopted a dues structure which is
based upon population and size; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim feels that if. the
larger cities are required to pay a larger sum based upon
size, the voting should be based upon size.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Gi~ty of
Anaheim strongly recommends to the Orange County Division of
.the League of .California Cities .that. voting shall be based
upon population.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Orange County Division
of the League. of California Cities is hereby requested to recon-
sider its present voting policy and that this.. voting policy
question be placed upon the agenda for discussion at the next
meeting of the Orange County Division of the League of
California Cities.
