A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY. OF ANAHEIM URGING AND REQUESTING THE
METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT TO REMOVE THE
WATER CONSERVATION SURCHARGE OF MARCH, 1977.
WHEREAS, in 1976 and 1977 California suffered a
severe drought requiring the City of Anaheim and other California
water agencies to implement water conservation programs; and
WHEREAS, on February 15, 1977 the Anaheim City Council
adopted Resolution No. 77R-87 urging water conservation in
Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, on February. 22, 1977 the Anaheim City Council
adopted Resolution No. 77R-124 requesting all Anaheim water
consumers to cut their water. use by at least ten percent; and
WHEREAS, on March 29, 1977 the Metropolitan Water
District (MWD) adopted a surcharge on the water sold to member
agencies if those agencies did not reduce the amount of water
purchased from MWD by at least 10% when compared to the 1976
usage; and
WHEREAS, due to the conservation efforts of Anaheim
Water customers, water use in Anaheim during 1977 we.s reduced
by more than ten percent from water use in 1976; ~~.nd
WHEREAS,. due to the recent rainfall and snowfall in
California it appears that-there will be no shortage of water
during 1978.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the pity Council
of the City of Anaheim that it hereby requests that the
Metropolitan Water District remove the water conservation
surcharge adopted by their Board of Directors on March 29, 1977.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by
the City Council of the City of Anaheim this 24th day of
January 1978.
