78-011RESOLUTION N0. 78R- 11 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM SUPPORTING THE NOMINEES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION FOR AN ORANGE COUNTY APPOINTMENT TO THE CALIFORNIA TRANSPORTATION' COMMISSION. WHEREAS, the State of California has created a California Transportation Commission pursuant to Assembly Bill No. 402; and WHEREAS, the County of Orange plays a very important role in the State of California, and has experienced one of the most pronounced growth rates in the United States; and WHEREAS, of the 693 freeway miles in Caltrans District 07, Orange County accounts for at least 20%, and the Orange County Transit District during the Year 1977 covered approximately 15,980,600 route miles; and WHEREAS, Orange County has never had a representative on the State Highway Commission; and WHEREAS, the Orange County Transportation Commission has requested the Governor of the State of California to appoint a representative from Orange County to the California Transportation Commission; and WHEREAS, the Orange County Transportation Commission has endorsed five outstanding individuals as candidates for the State Transportation Commission; and WHEREAS, the Orange County Transportation Commission has submitted to the Governor of the State of California the names and resumes of the following individuals as candidates for the State Transportation Commission: Mary-Evelyn Bryden, Tony DiGiovanni, G. J. "Pete" Fielding, Doreen Marshall and Frances 4dood. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that it does hereby support and approve the list of candidates submitted to the Governor of the State of California by the Orange County Transportation Commission as nominees for appointment to the State Transportation Commission. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed to send this Resolution to The Honorable Edmund G.
