A HESOLU'I'ION OJ.' THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING Th~ TRAl~SFER OF THE
Sill1 OF' $35,000.00 FROM THE LIBRARY FUND TO
THE GENERAL FUND '1'0 BE USED IN THE ACQUISITION
OF LAND FOR A CIVIC CENTER.
WHEREAS, the City Council does find and determine that
because of the rapid growth and expansion of the city and the
increase in population that it is necessary to acquire land
for a civic center where additional public buildings may be
constructed and maintained in which to conduct the necessary
business and affairs of the city; and
WHEREAS, the City Council does further find that the
present site and the buildings of the city library are
wholly inadequate in which to maintain the city library, and
the land upon which the present library is presently situated
is of insufficient size to permit the construction of additional
buildings thereon or any material expansion of library facilities;
and
WHEhEAS, the City Council does further find that parking
facilities around and in the vicinity of the present library
are wholly inadequate to accommodate the residents of the city
who wish to use the library and its facilities, and that it is
necessary to obtain a new site for the library; and
WHEREAS, the City Council does further find that the
Library Board has accumulated in its building fund the sum of
$34,343.34 to be used for the construction of additional
library facilities but there is not sufficient land at the
site of the present city library for the construction of ad-
ditional buildings and facilities, and that it will be necessary
to acquire a new site for a city library, and that such funds
should be used so far as is necessary in the acquisition of such
new site.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council that the
City Library Board be, and it is hereby requested to transfer
to the city general fund f'rom its buildin;; fund account the
sum of $34,343.34, and from its active account the sum of $656.66
to be used for the purposes and upon the following expressed con-
ditions:
1. Said funds so far as necessary shall be used for the
purchase and acquisition of a Civic Center within the City of
Anaheim for the construction and maintenance of public buildings
includinZ a library buildins.

2. In consideration of the transfer to the city of' the
above mentioned funds, the City Library Board shall be given
and granted and shall have a site upon said land ac~uired for a
Civic Center suff'icient in area to enable it to construct and
maintain a public library adequate in size to serve the needs
of the city.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Bank or America be,
and it is hereby authorized as directed by the City Library Board
to transrer rrom the City Library Building Fund Account to the
City General Fund Account title to the sum of $34,343.34 and
rrom the Library Active Account to the City General Fund Account
title to the sum of $656.66.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION was approved and signed by me this
25th day or October, 1956.
