WHEREAS, Article 1, Chapter 17, .Part 2, Division 3, Title 4, of the Government Code of the State of California authorizes the taking of special censuses between the years of taking the Federal census; and WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim has, since the last census, experienced unusual and rapid growth due to inf;:reased deYelopment and the annexation of new territories; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim does find and determine that a special censUs is neceSSary and desirable at this time for the best interest of the City; and WHEREAS, the Ci ty Council does find that the Depart- ment of Commerce, Bureau of the Census, has submitted an estimate of the cost of a special Federal Census to be taken and conducted in the City of Anaheim of $9,695.00 based upon an assumed population of 60,000 and that $3,~.00 to be paid to the Bureau of the Census, and $5,740.00 as the estiaated cost for the enumeration and local supervisory and clerical assistance, and the cost of printing the schedules at the time that the cost of these items is certified by the Special Census Supervisor. )Qt, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that the Bureau of tile Census, Depart- ment of Colllllerce of the Un! ted States of America be, and it is hereby requested to take a special census of the popula- tion of the City of Anaheim immediately; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Treasurer be, and she is hereby, authorized and directed to pay to the Bureau of the Census, Department of Commerce of the United States, the sum of $3,955.00 to cover the cost of preparing the special "nsus maps, tabulation of results, supervi$Or's salary, travel and subsistence, overhead, supplies and mis~ellan.ous; and ,--. ~" BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and the Ci ty Clerk be, and they are hereby, authorhed to enter into a contract with the Bureau of the Census, Department of Commerce of the United States of America for the talting of said special census in accorciaftce with the terms and upon the conditions herein specified.
