A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING AND
AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION FOR FUNDS
FROM THE "CALIFORNIA TREES FOR THE
MILLENNIUM INITIATIVE FOR 1999" GRANT
PROGRAM AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS IN
CONNECTION WITH SUCH APPLICATION AND
SUBSEQUENT AWARD OF FUNDS
WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of California, in
cooperation with the California State Legislature, has enacted
the California Trees for the Millennium Initiative for 1999,
grant program (the "Program") which provides funds to the State
of California and its political subdivisions for urban forestry
programs; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Forestry and Fire
Protection has been delegated the responsibility of
administration of the Program within the State, including setting
up procedures governing the application by local agencies and
nonprofit organizations for funds through the Program; and
WHEREAS, the procedures established by the State
Department of Forestry and Fire Protection require the City to
approve and authorize, by resolution, the filing of the
application for funds before submission of said application to
the State; and
WHEREAS, if awarded the funds, the City will enter into
an agreement with the State of California to carry out a tree
planting project with such funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Council hereby approves, and the City
Manager is hereby authorized to file an application for funds
under the California Trees for the Millennium Initiative for 1999
grant program to be used to plant and maintain trees in the City
of Anaheim;
2. That the City of Anaheim has sufficient funds to
implement and maintain the tree planting project, and that such
funds are available to commence the project;
3. That if awarded funds under the Program, the City will
expend such funds prior to January 31, 2002; and
4. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to conduct
all negotiation and execute and submit all documents including,
but not limited to applications, agreements, amendments, and
payment requests which may be necessary for the completion of the
tree planting project.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 16th day of
