A RESOLUTION OF THE GUY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM ASCERTAINING AND DETEffi1INING THE
PREVAILING RATE OF WAGES TO BE PAID FOR EACH
CRAFT OR TYPE OF WORKMAN, O.h MECHANIC NEEDED
FOR PUBLIC WORKS CONTRACTS FOR THE FURNISHING
OF ALL MATEtUALS, PLANT, LABOR AND SERVICES
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND COMPLETION OF FIRE
STATION NO.3, ON SOUTH MANCHESTER AVENUE
BETWEEN MIDWAY DIRVE AND KATELLA AVENUE, JOB
NO. 382.
WHEREAS, the City Councilor the City of Anaheim does
find and determine that public convenience and necessity re-
quire the acquisition of materials, plant, labor and services
for a public improvement consisting of the construction and
completion of Fire Station No.3, on South Manchester Avenue
between Midway Drive and Katella Avenue, in the City of
Anaheim, Job No. 382; and
WHEREAS, Section 1770 of the Labor Code of the Stat.
of California requires that the City Council ascertain and
determine the general prevailing rate of hourly wages and rates
for legal holidays and overtime work on public works and im-
provements in the locality in which the work is to be performed,
for each craft or type of workman, laborer or mechanic needed
for the execution of such public contracts and the making of
such publiC improvements, and for the turn ishing of all plant,
labor, services, materials and equipment and performing all
work necessary for the execution and completion of such public
contracts or improvements;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim that, in accordance with the provisions
of Section 1770 of the Labor Code of the State of California,
the City Council has ascertained and does hereby determine the
general prevailing rate of hourly wages and rates for legal
holidays and overtime work on public works, and the public im-
provement consisting of the construction and completion of
Fire Station No.3, on South Manchester Avenue between Midway
Drive and Katella Avenue, in the City of Anaheim, Job No. 382,
in the locality in Which such work is to be performed and each
craft or type of laborer, workman or mechanic needed for the
execution of public works contracts or contracts for furnish-
ing all plant, materials, labor, services and equ~pment ror
the publiC improvement consisting of the construction and com-
pletion of Fire Station No. ), on South Manchester Avenue
between Midway Drive and Katella Avenue, in the City of Ana-
heim, Job No. 382, and that said prevailing rates so determined
are as follows:

All roremen~ unless separa~ely classiried~ shall be
paid as provided in the May~ 1956 re~ision of the A.G.C.-A.F.L.
Southern Calirornia Master Labor Agreement.
Apprentices may be employed in conrormity with
Section 1777.5 or the California Labor Code.
The rates of per diem wages for each or the various
classifications of work shall be the hereinbefore set forth
prevailing rates of hourly wages multiplied ~ eight. Eight
hours shall constitute a day's work, it being understood that
in the event that workmen are employed less than eight hours
per day the per diem wage shall be that fraction of the per
diem wage herein established that the number of hours of employ-
ment bears to eight hours.
The overtime rule establishing the rates or overtime
and holiday work shall be in accordance with the following:
Where a single shift is worked, eight hours of continuous
employment, except for lunch periods, shall oonstitute a day's
work beginning on Monday and continuing through Friday each
week. Where work is required in excess of eight hours in any
one day or during the interval of time from 5:00 o'clock ~.M.
Friday and 12:00 o'clock midnight Saturday, such work shall be
paid for at the minimum rate of one and one-half times the
basic rate of wages, and on Sundays and holidays such work shall
be paid for at the minimum rate of double the basis rate of
wages, except as otherwise provided in the May, 1956 revision
of the A.G.C.-A.F.L. Southern California Master Labor Agreement.
Holidays as herein referred to shall be ~eem~d to be
New Years Day, Decoration Day, Independence Day, Labor Day,
Armistice Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. If any of
the above mentioned holidays, other than Labor Day and Thanks-
giving Day, falls on Sunday, the following Monday shall be
considered a legal holiday.
IT SHALL BE MANDATORY upon the contractor to whom
the contract is awarded and upon any subcontractor under him
to pay not less than the said specified rates of wages to all
laborers~ workmen and mechanics employed by them in the execu-
tion or the contract.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is signed and approved by
me this2sth day of August, 1956.
