1961-7208A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM SUPPORTING THE POLICY
OF THE,METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, the policy, c}f the Metropolitan Water, District
has been to keep Lake Mathews Reservoir closed to fishing and
other recreational uses in order to protect the Metropolitan
Water. District's,su.pply of water free from pollution and
contamination; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Water in its raw form is used
for drinking water in many areas served by the Metropolitan
Water District; and
WHEREAS, fishing and other recreational uses of the
Lake Mathews Reservoir would tend to pollute the aqueduct's
water supply and thereby create a danger to the users of the
raw Metropolitan Water unless considerable additional expense
was employed for the purification of the water after leaving
Lake Mathews; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim does
find and determine that the administrative personnel and Board
of Directors of the Metropolitan Water District are acting in
the best interests of the users of the Metropolitan Water District
aqueduct system in establishing their policy in prohibiting
the use of Lake Mathews for fishing and other recreational
purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that the City Council of the City of Anaheim
does hereby support the policy of the Metropolitan Water District
in prohibiting the use of the Lake Mathews Reservoir for fishing
and other recreational purposes.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
this 26th day of September, 1961.
