1962-0963RESOLUTION NO. 62R -963 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM ASCERTAINING AND DETERMINING THE PREVAILING RATE OF WAGES TO BE PAID FOR EACH CRAFT, OR TYPE OF WORKMAN OR MECHANIC NEEDED FOR PUBLIC WORKS CONTRACTS FOR THE FURNISHING OF ALL MATERIALS, PLANT, LABOR AND SERVICES FOR THE FURNISHING, CONSTRUCTION AND INSTAL- LATION OF LIBRARY SHELVING, CABINET WORK, FURNITURE AND FIXTURES FOR THE ANAHEIM CENTRAL LIBRARY LOCATED AT THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF BROADWAY AND HARBOR BOULEVARD, ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA, WORK ORDER NO. 4502. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim does find and determine that public convenience and necessity require the acquisition of materials, plant, labor and services for a public improvement, to wit: furnishing, construction and instal- lation of wood and metal shelving, cabinet work, furniture and fixtures for the Anaheim Central Library located at the southwest corner of Broadway and Harbor Boulevard, Anaheim, California, Work Order No. 4502 and WHEREAS, Section 1770 of the Labor Code of the State of California requires that the City Council ascertain and determine the general prevailing rate of hourly wages and rates for legal holidays and overtime work on public works and improvements in the locality in which the work is to be performed, for each craft or type of workman, laborer or mechanic needed for the execution of such public contracts and the making of such public improve- ments, and for the furnishing of all plant, labor, services, materials and equipment and performing all work necessary for the execution and completion of such public contracts or improvements. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that, in accordance with the provisions of Section 1770 of the Labor Code of the State of California, the City Council has ascertained and does hereby determine the general prevailing rate of hourly wages and rates for legal holidays and overtime work on public works, and the public improvement consis- ting of the furnishing, construction and installation of wood and metal shelving, cabinet work, furniture and fixtures for the Anaheim Central Library located at the southwest corner of Broadway and Harbor Boulevard, Anaheim, California, Work Order No. 4502 in the locality in which such work is to be performed, and each craft or type of laborer, workman or mechanic needed for the execu- tion of public works contracts for furnishing all plant, materials, labor, services and equipment for the public improvement consisting of the furnishing, construction and installation of wood and metal shelving, cabinet work, furniture and fixtures for the Anaheim Central Library located at the southwest corner of Broadway and Harbor Boulevard, Anaheim, California, Work Order No. 4502 and that said prevailing rates so determined are as follows: 1 CLASSIFICATION HOURLY RATE Cabinet Maker $3.265 Cabinet Finisher 4.10 Carpenter 4.10 Laborer 3.26 Electrician (Journeyman Wireman) 5.14 Plus fringelabor costs as set forth in the Southern California Master Labor Agreement of July, 1962. Health and Welfare payments shall be made in accordance with the Southern California Master Labor Agreement. All foremen, unless separately classified, shall be paid as provided in the Jul y 1962 revision of the A,G,C,, BOC,A,, H,B,IO, E,G, TF C,I,00 Southern California Master Labor Agreement, Apprentices may be employed in conformity with Section 1777,5 of the California Labor Code, The rates of per diem wages for each of the various classifications of work shall be the hereinbefore set forth pre vailing rates of hourly wages multiplied by eight. Eight hours shall constitute a day's work, it being understood that in the event that workmen are employed less than eight hours per day, the per diem wage shall be that fraction of the per diem wage herein established that the number of hours of employment bears to eight hours. The overtime rule establishing the rates of overtime and holiday, work shall be in accordance with the following: Where a single shift is worked, eight hours of continuous employment, except for lunch periods, shall constitute a day's work beginning on Monday and continuing through Friday each week. Where work is required in excess of eight hours in any one day or during the interval of time from 5 :00 o'clock P.M. Friday and 12 :00 o'clock midnight Saturday, such work shall be paid for at the minimum rate of one and one -half times the basic rate of wages, and on Sundays and holidays such work shall be paid for at the minimum rate o f double the basic rate of wages, except as otherwise provided in the July 19 62 revision of the A,G,C., B H.B,I,, E,G,C,A,, A.F.L. C.LO Southern California Master Labor Agreement, Holidays as herein referred to shall be deemed to be New Year's Day, Decoration Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. If any of the above mentioned holidays, other than Labor Day and Thanks- giving Day, falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be considered a legal holiday; It shall be mandatory upon the contractor to whom the contract is awarded and upon any subcontractor under him to pay not less than the said specified rates of wages to all laborers, workmen and mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract.
