RESOLUTION NO. 2982
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM URGING EHE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC
WORKS, DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS OF THE STATE OF
CALIFORNIA TO ALLOCATE FUNDS FOR THE IMPROVE
MENT OF LINCOLN AVENUE (STATE HIGHWAY ROUTE
17L) FROM STATE HIGHWAY 39 TO THE SANTA ANA
FREEWAY.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that due to the
rapid expansion of the City of Anaheim and the increase in
population as a result of subdivision and industrial de-
velopment in the county, Lincoln Avenue (State Highway
Route 1 �4) between State Highway 39 and the Santa Ana
Freeway has become greatly congested with traffic, and
that said two -lane highway now existing is wholly inade-
quate to handle the traffic flowing thereon; and
WHEREAS, the City Council does further find that
unless said Lincoln Avenue, between the points above men-
tioned, is widened at an early date there will be a great
increase in the congestion of traffic thereon and upon
highways crossing or connecting therewith, and that it is
urgently necessary that said highway be widened to elimi-
nate said congestion.
NOW, THEREFOF,E, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim that the Department of Public Works,
Division of Highways of the State of California be, and it
is hereby, requested to allocate funds for the widening and
improvement of Lincoln Avenue (State Highway Route 17L)
from State Highway 39 to the Santa Ana Freeway, in Orange
County, California, and that said improvement be made as
soon as possible.
THE FONEGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed
by me this 1st day of November, 1955.
