1955-2948RESOLUTION NO. 2948 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPER- VISORS OF ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA TO REMOVE THE DIVIDING STRIP ON HARBOR BOULEVARD, EXCEPT AT THE INTERSECTION OF KATELLA AVENUE AND HARBOR BOULEVARD. WHEREAS, heretofore, to wit, on the 16th day of May, 1955, the City Council did adopt Ordinance No. 994, entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM PERMITTING THE USE OF A PORTION OF HARBOR BOULEVARD WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS Bs THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ORANGE COUNTY, FOR THE PURPOSE OF IM- PROVING AND MAINTAINING SAID BOULEVARD AS A PART OF THE COUNTY SYSTEM OF ROADS"; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Orange County, California did on May 10, 1955 adopt a resolution determining and declaring that portion of Harbor Boulevard lying within the City of Anaheim, commencing at a point 650 feet south of the Santa Ana Freeway to a point 1200 feet south of Katella Avenue, to be a County Highway, and authorizing the improve- ment thereof as a County Highway; and WHEREAS, the County of Orange has improved said Harbor Boulevard in accordance with said ordinance of the City of Anaheim and resolution of the Board of Supervisors, and has constructed thereon a dividing strip 12 feet in width; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim has received numerous complaints by property owners upon and along said Harbor Boulevard adjoining said improvement, ob- jecting to the construction and maintenance of a dividing strip in said highway and requesting that the same be re- moved, and the City Council does find and determine that it would be for the public interest to remove said divider strip, except at the intersection of said Harbor Boulevard and Katella Avenue. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that the Board of Supervisors of Orange County, California, be and it is hereby, requested to remove the curbs from the dividing strip placed along said Harbor Boulevard from a point approximately 650 feet south of the Santa Ana Freeway to the intersection of Katella Avenue, and to construct a left turn island on the north side of the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Katella Avenue similar to tie one on the south side of said intersection; and that a double white line be painted along the center line of Harbor Boulevard from the northerly terminus of said island to a point approximately 650 feet south of the Santa Ana Freeway. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Orange County, California be requested to modify the contract made and entered into with the contractor for the improvement of said Harbor Boulevard to provide for the improvement of Harbor Boulevard on the east side of the center line thereof to a point 30 feet easterly thereof, in- stead of 39 feet easterly of the center line as originally contemplated. -1- BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk certify to the passage of this resolution and forward a copy thereof to the Board of Supervisors of Orange County, California.
