1955-2945RESOLUTION NO. 2 945 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF COM- MERCE, BUREAU OF THE CENSUS OF THE UNITED STATES, TO TAKE A SPECIAL CENSUS IN THE CITY OF ANAHEIM, AND AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF THE COST 'THEREOF BY THE CITY OF ANAHEIM, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND THE CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT THEREFOR. WHEREAS, Article 1, Chapter 17, Part 2, Division 3, Title 4, of the Government Code of the State of California authorizes the taking of special censuses between the years of taking the Federal census; and WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim has, since the last census, experienced unusual and rapid growth due to increased development and the annexation of new territories; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim does find and determine that a special census is necessary and desirable at this time for the best interest of the City; and WHEREAS, the City Council does find that the Depart- ment of Commerce, Bureau of the Census, has submitted an estimate of the cost of a special Federal census to be taken and conducted in the City of Anaheim of $5,150.00, based upon an assumed population of 35,000; and that said estimate is based upon a charge of $900.00, plus }35.00 per 1,000 or fraction thereof of population over 10,000 and under 50,000; and for 01,775.00 to be paid to the Bureau of the Census, and $3,375.00 as the estimated cost for the enumeration and local supervisory and clerical assistance, and the cost of printing the schedules at the time that the cost of these items is certified by the Special Census Supervisor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that the Bureau of the Census, Depart- ment of Commerce of the United States of America be, and it is hereby requested to take a special census of the popula- tion of the City of Anaheim immediately; and BE IT .FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Treasurer be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay to the Bureau of the Census, Department of Commerce of the United States, the sum of $1,775.00 to cover the cost of preparing the special census maps, tabulation of results, supervisorts salary, travel and subsistence, overhead, supplies and miscellaneous; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Treasurer of the City of Anaheim be, and he is hereby, authorized to pay to the Bureau of the Census, Department of Commerce of the United States, for the taking of said census, a total sum of y 900.00, plus $35.00 per 1,000 or fraction thereof of population over 10,000 and under 50,000, together with the actual cost for the enumeration and local supervisory and clerical assistance, and the cost of printing the schedules at the time that the cost of these items is certified by the Special Census Supervisor; and -1- BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and the City Clerk be, and they are hereby, aatthorized to enter into a contract with the Bureau of the Census, Department of Commerce of the United States of America for the taking of said special census in accordance with the terms and upon the conditions herein specified.
