1955-2914WHEREAS, Article 1, Chapter 17, Part 2, Division
3, Title 14. of the Government Code of the State of Cali-
fornia authorizes the taking of a special census between
the years of taking the federal census; and
WHERAS, the City of Anaheim has, since the last
census, experienced unusual and rapid growth due to in-
creased development and the annexation of new territories;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim
does find and determine that a special census is necessary
and desirable at this time and for the best :interests of
the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Depart-
ment of Commerce, Bureau of the Census, should be requested
to submit an estimate of the cost of a special federal
census to be taken and conducted in the City of Anaheim.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim that the City Clerk be, and she is
hereby, authorized and directed to communicate with the
Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census of the United
States, and request said Bureau to submit an estimate of the
cost of a special federal census to be taken and conducted
in the City of Anaheim, based upon an estimated population
of 35,000.
THE FOREGOING, R ESOLUTION is signed and approved by
me this 6th day of September, 1955.
