1955-2716RESOLUTION N 2716 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE PURCHASE OF REINFORCED CONCRETE STEEL CYLINDER PIPE AND FITTINGS IS NECESSARY FOR THE WATER DEPARTMENT; FIXING THE SPECI1 THEREOF; AND DIRECTING PUBLICATION OF NOTICE INVITING BIDS THE FURNISHING OF SAID PIPE AND FITTINGS. WHEREAS, the City Council does find and determine that public convenience and necessity require the purchase and acquisition of reinforced concrete steel cylinder pipe and fittings, including rubber gaskets for installation, for use by the Water Department of the City, in the amounts hereinafter specified; and WHEREAS, the City Council does further find that the specifications of such pipe and fittings should be fixed and determined; and WHEREAS, the City Council does find and determine that notice should be published inviting bids for the fur- nishing of pipe and fittings in the amounts and in accord- ance with the specifications hereinafter set forth; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that all reinforced concrete steel cylinder pipe and fittings purchased by and furnished to the City of Anaheim shall conform to and comply with "Interim Federal Specification." Pipe: Pressure, reinforced, con- crete, pretensioned reinforcement (steel cylinder type) No. SS-P-00361 (GSA-FSS) issued. April 2, 1953 and modified by the following: Pipe shall be Class 150 for 150 pounds maximum water working pressure. The reinforced concrete pipe may be furnished in either of two types: Pretensioned or Non-Pretensioned. When non-pretensioned pipe is fur- nished under this modification of the specification, it shall be the type known as steel cylinder, cement lined and coated, with the features indicated below: The design for internal pressure shall be based entirely on the steel cylinder and shall not be dependent upon any added reinforcement intended to extend the design strength of the cylinder. Cylinder shall have a wall thick- ness of not less than 10 gauge. Such pipe shall have the bell and spigot formed integrally with the steel cylinder. The bell shall be a-Dproximately four inches deep and have a flared lip to facilitate assembly. Bell thickness shall be no less than 3/16" and shall be reinforced as necessary. The spigot shall have a specially rolled groove with double shoulders" such that after field joining, the gasket will be completely enclosed on all sides and shall not depend on in- ternal water pressure to aid the gasket in making a water- tight joint. The pipe shall have a 1/2" cement mortar lining and a 1" cement mortar coating. The coating shall be reinforced with a 15-1/2 Ga. wire helically wound without tension and on a 1" pitch and placed at the approximate center of the coating. Other details for non-pretensioned pipe shall conform to desirable and applicable portions of the specifi- cations referring to pretensioned pipe; in particular, but not limited to: steel for cylinders, cement, rubber gaskets, allowable steel fibre stress, test pressures and fitting design. -1- AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there shall be pur- chased for the Water Department of the City of Anaheim re- inforced concrete steel cylinder pipe and fittings, including rubber gaskets for installation in the following approximate quantities, and the following sizes and descriptions: Item 1. 6,000 feet Item 2. On e Item 3. One Item 4. On e Item 5. Four 18" flanged connections to 18" gate valves. Item 6. Thirteen Item 7. Three 8" flanged outlets. Item 8. Seventy -five 1" I.P.S. hub outlets, tapped. Item 1. 11,800 feet 16" I.D. reinforced concrete steel cylinder pipe, including rubber gaskets for installation. Item 2. One UNIT "A" 18" I.D. reinforced concrete steel cylinder pipe, including rubber gaskets for installation. 18" x 18" x 10" x 6" fabricated cross with 1 18" and 10" and 6" outlets adapted for flanged connection. 18" x 12" x 18" x 10" fabricated cross with 18" outlet opposite 10" outlet and 12" and 10" outlets adapted for flanged connection. 24" x 12" x 18" x 18" fabricated cross with all outlets adapted for flanged connection. 6" flanged outlets. UNIT "B" 16" x 16" x 6" x 6" fabricated cross with both 6" outlets adapted for flanged connections. -2- Item 3. One Item 4. One Item 5. One Item 6.
