RESOLUTION NO. 2689
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM OPPOSING AND PROTESTING
AGAINST ANY TYPE OF OIL DRILLING OPERATION
WITHIN THE LAGUNA BEACH AREA AND ITS ENVIRONS
WHICH WOULD IMPAIR THE BEAUTY OF THE SHORE
LINE AND COMMUNITY.
WHEREAS, certain interests are proposing to exploit
the drilling for oil and other carbohydrate substances along the
coastal areas of Orange County in the vicinity of Laguna Beach,
California; and
WHEREAS, the coastal area of Orange County is now, and
should remain, an area of recreation and beauty and should not be
destroyed in the interests of profit to those seeking to gain
through the drilling for oil in said area; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim, after
full consideration and observation, finds that it is contrary to
the best interests of Orange County that such exploration and
drilling for oil be not only discouraged, but prohibited.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that it go on record as being in opposition,
and it does hereby oppose any type of oil drilling operations
within the Laguna Beach Area and its environs which would impair
the beauty and the recreational potential of the shore line and
the community.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
this 29th day of March, 1955.
