1953-2158RESOLUTION NO. 9158 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM EMPLOYING QUINTON ENGINEERS, LTD. TO MAKE A COMPLETE STUDY AND HYDRAULIC ANALYSIS OF THE EXISTING WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM OF THE CITY AND THE FUTURE DEMANDS THEREON AND A HY- DRAULIC ANALYSIS AND STUDY TO DETERMINE RECOM- MENDED PIPE SIZES FOR FUTURE EXTENSIONS TO THE SYSTEM. 57 WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the City of Anaheim is rapidly expanding in area and increasing in population and there is an ever increasing demand for water for domestic, commer- cial and industrial purposes; and WHEREAS, the growing demand for water and the anticipated future demand for water will tax the facilities of the City Water Department to adequately supply such demand and that it is necessary to make a complete study and hydraulic analysis of the existing water distribution system of the City, project future demands on the system to supply territories which it is anticipated will be annexed to and become a part of the City and to make a hydraulic analysis and study to determine recommended pipe sizes for future extensions to the system; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that Quinton Engineers, Ltd., a firm of consulting engineers having their offices at 816 South Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, California, are qualified and capable of making such studies, surveys and analyses and reporting their fin.dir.gs to the City Council and that they have offered to make such studies, surveys and analyses and reports to the City for the sum of Two Thousand and 00 /100 Dollars ($2,000.00), and the City Council finds that such sum is a reason- able sum to be expended for the purposes aforesaid and that such studies, surveys and analyses are necessary to be made. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM that Quinton Engineers, Ltd. of 816 South Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, California, consulting engineers be, and they are hereby, employed by the City of Anaheim to make a complete study, survey and hydraulic analysis of the ex- isting water distribution system of the City of Anaheim, project future demands on the system to supply surrounding territories which it is anticipated will be annexed to the City of Anaheim in the future, and to make a hydraulic analysis and study to determine recommended pipe sizes for future extensions to the system and to prepare and make a report thereon that will in- clude data, maps, plates, construction costs, estimates and rec- ommendations for additions, betterments and extensions to the system and that said report include a master plan to be used as a guide for the work recommended and that it cover but not neces- sarily be limited to the following items: Design SCOPE Forecasts of future demands on the system to supply proposed annexations. A hydraulic analysis and study of the existing distribu- tion system to determine alterations and additions -1- necessary to provide adequate pressures and flows for both domestic use and fire protection. A hydraulic analysis and study to determine pipe sizes for future extensions to the distribution system and location of future turnout structures from proposed Metropolitan Water District feeders. Recommendations A master plan showing the existing distribution system with recommended alterations or additions and proposed distribution system to serve the entire area contemplated for annexation in the future. Construction priority numbers to be assigned to future pipe line extensions and other recommended facilities. ATTEST: Preliminary construction cost estimates to be prepared for each stage of recommended work. T IME Said studies, surveys and hydraulic analyses to be completed within months. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Quinton Engineers, Ltd. shall receive as compensation for their services for making the foregoing studies, surveys, hydraulic analyses, estimates and furnishing and analyzing engineering data and presenting a report with conclusions and recommendations to the City Council as here- inafter set forth the sum of Two Thousand and 00 /100 Dollars ($2,000.00), payable within thirty (30) days following the pre- sentation of their final report.
