1953-2157RESOLUTION NO. 2157 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF ANAHEIM TO JOIN WITH A GROUP OF OTHER CITIES IN OP- POSING THE APPLICATION CF THE PACIFIC TELE- PHONE AND TELEGRAPH COMPANY FOR AN INCREASE IN RATES. WHEREAS, the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company has filed Application No. 33935 with the Public Utilities Com- mission of the State of California. for state -wide increases in telephone rates; and WHEREAS, in several similar proceedings in the past involving said Company, public agencies in Southern California have joined together in the employment of special counsel and a consultant or consultants to represent said agencies jointly; and WHEREAS, it appears to be in the public interest that such joint representation be provided for in opposing said Appli- cation No. 33935; and ?WHEREAS, it appears that the cost to the City of Anaheim will not exceed the sum of Ten Dollars (10.00) per one thousand of population. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL that the City of Anheim join T,,-.� th other cities in California in op- posing said Application No. 33935 of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company filed with the Public Utilities Commission of the State of California for state -wide increasesin telephone rates and that the City of Anaheim pay its proportionate share of the cost of special counsel, exoert witnesses end such other exoenses as may be reasonably necessary in opposing said Appli- cation providing that the total cost payable by the City of Anaheim shall not exceed the sum of Ten Dollars 0'10.00) 3cr thousand of population; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Attorney be, and he is hereby, authorized to maize arrangements with such other Cities or their attorneys for the employment of special counsel and a consultant or consultants to represent said Cities in said matter before said Commission and that when such special counsel and a consultant or consultants have been agreed upon that the matter and terms of their employment be reported to the City Council for final approval.
