1952-20161 17 18 28 RESOLUTION NO. 2 3 4 H 5 WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim and the City of Fullerton have 6 11 in the past acted independently with respect to annexation of Hterritory lying between the two cities; and A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A FUTURE BOUNDARY LINE BETWEEN THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AND THE CITY OF FULLERTON IN THE AREA WEST OF HIGHWAY 101. 8 WHEREAS, this practice has resulted in disagreements and 9 litigation, and if the practice is continued will undoubtedly 10 result in irregular boundaries being established which will make 11 it difficult for either city to adequately serve portions of the 12 said territory; and 13 1 WHERAS, the Mayor and City Administrator of the City of 14 lAnaheim and the Mayor and City Engineer of the City of Fullerton 15 plave met and consulted with various property owners in the area 16 between the two cities and west of Highway 101 and said Iparties have recommended that the future boundary line between the two cities in said area should be the northerly line of Houston 19 Avenue extended westerly to Highway 101 with a certain adjustment 20 On the west end to except property being annexed to the City of 21 Anaheim as hereinafter set forth; and 22 7 HER7AS, it is in the best interests of the City of Anaheim 23 and of the property owners in the area involved that the proposed 24 line be established as recommended as it is a line which has been 25 determined in accordance with geographic considerations, as well 261 las mail, telephone and utilities services, and is a line which 271j includes within the area allotted to the City of Anaheim property which can be readily and with advantage served by the City of 29 Anaheim with sewer, water, fire and police protection, and other 30 city services; and 311! H WHEREAS, it would also be in the best interests of the City 32 of Anaheim that a permanent committee be established to work with CITY OF ANAHEIM I i 204 E. CENTER ST. !i ANAHEIM. CALIFORNIA 1 1 1! representatives from the City of Fullerton and with the owners of 2 1 1 property in the area concerned to jointly undertake the solution 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 14 !described as follows: 1 of various problems in zoning and serving said area; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim is consider- ing the adoption of the said proposed future boundary line; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim as follows: Section 1: That it is and shall be the policy of the City of Anaheim to refuse to annex any property lying north of the line Beginning at a point where the westerly line of Highway 101 intersects the prolongation of the northerly line of Houston Avenue; thence westerly along said northerly line of Houston Avenue to the northeasterly line of that certain Southern Pacific right-of'-way contiguous to Manchester Avenue; thence northwesterly along said north- easterly line to Dale Road. Section 2: That there is a question as to the location of boundary line at the easterly end of said boundary line where the 17 there is located that certain real property referred to as the 18 1"Jones Property" in Resolution No. 1548 of the City Council of the 19 k 20 City of Fullerton; that the Annexation and Boundary Committee of 1 21 the City of Anaheim hereinafter referred to, is authorized to negotiate with the proper officials of the City of Fullerton to 22 I 1 the end that an agreement can be made for the location of the 23 24 boundary line at that point. Section 3: That there is hereby established a permanent 25 committee to be known as the Annexation and Boundary Committee. That said Committee shall consist of the Mayor, one other Council- man appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council, and lone member of the Planning Commission appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council. That it shall be the duty of said Committee to recommend to the City Council courses of action looking toward cooperation with the City of Fullerton and with 30 31I 32 i CITY OF ANAHEM 204 E.
