RESOLUTION NO. 1663
RESOLUTION RIQUESTING GRANT OF HIGHWAY USERS TAX PtJND FOR REPAIR-
ING LEMON STREET.
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim, a city of the sixth class, in the County of
Orange, desires to repair Lemon Street, a street within the incorporated limits
of the City of Anaheim, the nature and extent of the contemplated project being
more fully described hereafter;
WHEREAS, there is attached hereto, marked "Exhibit A" and made a part hereof,
a sketch showing the location of Lemon Street and its relationship to the princi-
pal highways of the County of Orange in said area, and
WAS, Section 2150 of the Streets and Highways Code authorizes a,County,
if it so desires, to expend funds apportioned to it out of the California Highway
Users Tax Fund for aid to cities in the improvement, construction or repair of a
street within a city, provided that the Board of Supervisors of such County de-
termines that the project is in the general County interests;
NOSE', THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TEE CITY COUNCIL OP THE CITY OF ANAHEIM,
that the City of Anaheim hereby requests the County of Orange for a grant of aid
in the sum of Thirteen Thousand Two Hundred Eighty -one Dollars ($13,281.00) out of
the County's apportionment of the California Highway Users Tax Fund, the amount
requested to be used exclusively for the following purposes:
1. The repair of Lemon Street, situated as designated on "Exhibit A" hereof.
2. The nature and extent of the project and the estimated cost thereof are
substantially as follows: The portion of Lemon Street which is in the worst state
of disrepair is from Vermont Avenue to Santa Ana Street and was paved in 1914 with
a 4i -inch concrete base and a 2 -inch asphalt surface, the surface course now being
shattered and loose and becoming dangerous to traffic. It is proposed to remove
the present surfacing, full width between curbs, from Vermont Avenue to a line
286 feet south of the south line of Santa Ana Street, and to resurface this area
with 2 -inch plant mix. Width of improvement is 38 feet and length 2666 feet, in-
volving an estimated cost of $13,281.00, as follows:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orrpge
be and is hereby requested to find that the repair of Lemon Street in the manner
aforesaid is in the general County interest in that It is a street of major im-
portance running from the south city limits of Anaheim through Anaheim and as
Harvard Avenue through Fullerton to the Brea Road. Lemon Street carries a con-
siderable volume of traffic which prefers to avoid the traffic controls on the
adjacent and parallel U. O. Highway 101.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVES? that it is understood that the grant of the aid hereby
requested is contingent upon an independent finding by the Board of Supervisors of
the County of Orange that the purpose for which aid is hereby sought is in the
general County interest.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is understood that upon acceptance by the City
of Anaheim of any grant which may be made by the County of Orange, pursuant to
this request, this Resolution, the Resolution of the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Orange specifying the terms and conditions of the grant, and any and all
laws applicable shall constitute the agreement between the City of Anaheim and the
County of Orange respecting the grant.
BE IT rURTH=? RESOLVED AND ORDERED that the City Clerk of the City of Anaheim
be and is hereby directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the
Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange, State of California.
The foregoing Resolution is approved and signed by me this 8th day of March,
