RESOLUTION ADOPTING SPECIFICATIONS FOR INDIVIDUAL OUTDOOR POLE
TYPE CAPACITOR UNITS AND HANGERS, SECOND SERIES OF 1940,
CITY OF ANAHEIM.
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim
that those certain specifications prepared by the Superintendent
of Light and Water entitled, "Specifications for Individual Out-
door Pole -type Capacitor Units and Hangers, Second Series of
1940 City of Anaheim," be and the same are hereby approved and

STANDARDS:
The capacitor units covered by these specifications shall
be in accordance with the latest standards of the AIEE, NEMA and
ASA insofar as they apply.
RATING:
Capacitors required shall be rated at 15 Kva 60 cycles
each, single phase, and shall be suitable for operation on
circuits of 4,300 volts Y or 2,400 volts Delta connected at 60
cycles. All units shall deliver not less than rated. Kva at rated
voltage and frequency.
CASE:
SPECIFICATIONS FOR INDIVIDUAL OUTDOOR POLE-TYPE CAPACITOR
UNITS AND HANGERS, SECOND SERIES OF 1940 CITY OF ANAHEIM
DESIGN
The case shall be constructed for convenient pole mounting,
singly or in groups of two to four, by use of hangers designed for
the purpose.
BUSHINGS:
Each unit is to be provided with two bushings and with
solderless connectors.
The BO cycle flashover voltages of these bushings shall be
in accordance with the latest requirements of the NEMA and AIEE
for distribution transformer bushings of the dame voltage ratings.
DISCHARGER:
Each unit shall be provided with a built-in discharge
resistor capable of reducing the residual charge to 50 volts or
less in approximately five minutes after the unit is disconnected.
IMPRE1-NATING
The capacitor units shall be impregnated with a non-
inflammable, non-elplosive insulating medium which will not
support combustion.

VOLTAGE TESTS:
Each capacitor unit shall be tested by the manufacturer
as follows:

5,000 volts line-to-ground.
19,000 volts line-to-line.
Each nameplate shall carry the following information:
1. Manufacturer,
2. Identification No. (type, style, model
or catalogue number)
3. Kva.
4. Number of phases.
5. Voltages.
6. Frequency.
7. Amount of insulating liquid and character.
Losses, including those of the discharge resistor, shall
not exceed 3 1/3 watts per Kva, based on rated voltage and 60
cycle frequency.
APPLICATION;
TEMPERATURE RISE:
The temperature rise on hanger type outdoor type
capacitors, measured on the top of the case, for single units,
shall not exceed 15 deg. 0 over an ambient of 50 deg. 0; and for
groups of four in standard hangers, 20 deg. 0 over an ambient
of 50 deg. 0, when unit is operated at rated voltage and
frequency, and subject to natural outdoor exposures.
DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHTS:
The supplier shall furnish drawings showing dimensions
and weights, together with a description of the equipment offered,
end electrical connections.
AMBIENT TEMPERATURE:
These units shall be suitable for operation in all

ambient temperatures up to 50 deg. C, when pole-mounted in
approved hanxers.
GUARANTEE
These capacitor units shall be guaranteed by the manufact-
urer against all defects in workmanship and material for a period
of one year after shipment.
HANGERS
Hangers shall be of the pole mounting type to accommodate
4 15 Kva 60 cycle, single phase capacitor units. Hangers
shall be hot dip galvanized after assembly and shall be Vesting-
house Style No. 1019425 or equal.
