CALIFORNIA TELEPHONE 3456 RESOLUTION NO. 1158 WHEREAS, Mr. Connie Mack and the American Baseball Club of Philadelphia have chosen Anaheim's La Palma Park in which to train for the season of 1940, and WHEREAS, during the brief time that the "Athletics have been in Anaheim, many of our citizens have come to know and admire them; and WHEREAS, we greatly appreciate the hearty response they have given our reception; NOW THEREFOR, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that it hereby extends to Mr. Mack and the members of the American Baseball Club of Philadelphia its most cordial welcome; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said City Council commends and congratulates the members of said Club for their high standard of sportsmanship, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said City Council does hereby extend to Mr. Mack, his team and his official family, its heartiest good wishes for every success during the coming and following seasons; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said City Council does hereby extend to Mr. Mack and the American Baseball Club of Philadelphia its sincere invitation to them to return to Anaheim next year for their spring training. The foregoing resolution is signed and approved by me this 27th day of February, 1940.
