A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM ENCOURAGING PARTICIPATION OF CITI-
ZEN GROUPS IN PROGRAMS OF BICYCLE SAFETY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim recog-
nizes the need for the safe operation of bicycles for children
and adults in the thoroughfares of the City; and
WHEREAS, the unsafe operation of bicycles results from
the improper operation of said vehicles; and
WHEREAS, if programs of bicycle safety were inaugurated
by the various citizen groups of the City of Anaheim it could
result in a lessening of bicycle traffic accidents; and
WHEREAS, more than fifty percent
involving bicycles resulted from a lack of
rules of the road and improper training in
bicycles; and

WHEREAS, the number of bicycles being purchased and opera-
ted by the citizens of Anaheim has increased more than thirty
percent over the past eighteen months.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that the City Council does hereby urge civic
and citizenry organizations and groups to actively participate in
programs of bicycle safety designed to educate and train the
bicycle riders of the City of Anaheim in the knowledge of the
rules of the road and safe and sane operation of bicycles.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
