A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL O~ THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE DESTRUCTION OF
CERTAIN CITY RECORDS.
WHEREAS, the Government Code of the State of California
authorizes the destruction of certain records of the City upon
the approval of the legislative body of the City, and with the
written consent of the City Attorney, provided that said records
do not fall within certain specified categories; and
MIEREAS, the City Engineer has requested authority to
destroy certain records which do not fall within said categories;
and
WHEREAS, the City Attorney hereby gives his written
consent to the destruction of certain project files which have
been microfilmed, are all seven (7) years old or older, do not
contain original records and the microfilm is available for public
use, together with the destruction of certain tract files which
have been microfilmed, are all three (3) years old or older, and
the micro!fl. is available for public use and therefore said files
are subject to destruction under the Government Code of the State
of California; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer of the City of Anaheim has
determined that none of the aforementioned docQrnents, regardless
of age, have sufficient value to justify retention in their
present form as these documents are no longer needed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that the City Engineer of the City of Anaheim
be, and he is hereby authorized to destroy immediately all project
files and tract files which have been microfilmed and the need for
which no longer exists in their present form.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proper official of the
City having custody of the above-designated project files and
tract files shall cause said project files and tract files to be
destroyed in a lawful manner.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that upon destruction of the
foregoing records, a certificate of destruction Shall be executed
and the original thereof filed in the Office of the City Clerk,
together with a copy of this resolution.
