RESOLUTION NO. 73R-364
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM SUPPORTING THE REDUCTION IN SIZE
OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY
MOSQUITO ABATEfillNT DISTRICT A1~D URGING THE
DISSOLUTION OF SAID DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, the Orange County Mosquito Abatement District
is comprised of a Board of Trustees representing one menilier from
each c1tyin 'Orange County, -a County representative for a total
membership of twenty-seven ~rustees; and
vVHEREAS, the principal function of said District is the
control of mosquitos and midges; and
WHEREAS, the Orange County Health Department has a
similar duty in the control of mosquitos and midges; and
WHEREAS, the dual function results in duplicate efforts
and costly waste of manpower; and

WHEREAS, other cities in Orange County have adopted
resolutions supporting the reduction of the number of Board of
Trustees in said District to five (5) and eventual dissolution
of said District to prevent duplication.
NOW, THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that the City of Anaheim does hereby recommend
that the Board of Trustees of the Orange County Mosquito Abatement
District be reduced to five (5) members and that said District be
dissolved and the functions of said District transferred to the
Orance County Health Department.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Orange County League of
California Cities is hereby requested to assist in all necessary
legal and procedural steps to reduce said District Board of
Trustees to five (5) members and secure its eventual dissolution.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
authorized to send copies of this resolution to the Orange County
Board of Supervisors, the Intergovernmental Coordinating Council,
The Local Agency Formation Commission, and to each city in Orange
County, California.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
this 21st day of August, 1973.
