WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of the
"Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act" (Public Law
90 -351), adopted by the Congress of the United States in
1968, federal funds were received by the County of Orange for
the purpose of funding the Orange County Intelligence Unit;
and
WHEREAS, organized crime is a county -wide concern,
and centralized administration is necessary in order to avoid
multiplicity of efforts and expense; and
WHEREAS, the Orange County Intelligence Unit has
been in operation for the past three (3) years and has proven
to be very successful in its goal of providing information on
areawide organized criminal activity; and
WHEREAS, the information provided by said Intelli-
gence Unit has been beneficial to the County of Orange and
all of the cities in said County; and
WHEREAS, federal funding will end on June 30, 1974,
and the participating members in Orange County wish to con-
tinue to support the Orange County Intelligence Unit by joint
funding of the budget for the unit.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim that the City supports the continuation
by the participating members of the Orange County Intelligence
Unit by joint funding of the budget for the Unit.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by
me this 9th day of April, 1974.
