1974-045RESOLUTION NO. 74R -45 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM REJECTING ALL BIDS RECEIVED UP TO THE HOUR OF 2:00 P.M. ON THE 31ST DAY OF JANUARY, 1974,. FOR A PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT, TO WIT: MODIFICATION OF DOUGLASS STREET ENTRANCE TO ANAHEIM STADIUM, IN THE CITY OF ANAHEIM, WORK ORDER NO. 824. WHEREAS, heretofore, to wit, on the 8th'day of January, 174, the City Council of the City of Anaheim did adopt Resolution No. 74R-4 finding and determining that public convenience and necessity required the construction and com- pletion of a public improvement consisting of excavation; construction of reinforced concrete booths; construction of P.C.C. curb and slab; relocation of electrolier, chain link gate, barricades and posts; installation of electrical and telephone wiring and traffic loops; and all appurtenant work; and WHEREAS, the City Council did authorize and direct the City Clerk to publish a notice according to law inviting sealed proposals for the furnishing of all plant, labor, services, materials and equipment, and all utilities and trans- portation, including power, fuel and water and performing all work necessary to construct and complete said public improvement, and fixing the 31st day of January, 1974, at the hour of 2:00 o'clock P.M. as the date and hour for the opening of said bids in the Council Chamber in the City Hall, in the City of Anaheim; and WHEREAS, upon said 31st day of January, 1974, at the hour of 2:00 o'clock P.M., the City Clerk and City Engineer did open one bid received up to that hour, in public, in the City Hall, in the City of Anaheim, and the City Engineer did report that said bid was approximately 75% over the City estimate and did recommend that said bid be rejected and the Director of Public Works be authorized to perform said construction by force account; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the best interests of the City of Anaheim to proceed with the construction by the City as recommended by the City Engineer prior to the commencement of the baseball season to provide the necessary access. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that the bid received up to the hour of 2:00 o'clock P.M. on January 31, 1974, for the modification of Douglass Street entrance to Anaheim Stadium be, and the same is hereby rejected and that the Director of Public Works be authorized to perform said construction by force account. THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me this 5th day of February, 1974.
