A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING THE
APPLICATION FOR COMMUNITY-WIDE DRUG
AND ALCOHOL ABUSE PREVENTION
PROGRAM COORDINATION
WHEREAS, the Department of Health and Human Services, Public
Health Service, office for Substance Abuse Prevention has
available funds for drug and alcohol prevention; and
WHEREAS, these funds are available to identify the needs and
service gaps for the target community, establish priorities,
coordinate new and established prevention programs throughout the
community, and assist public and private organizations to promote
and support~d~ug abuse prevention programs; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim supports the purpose of the
Community Partnership Program which is to promote the development
of long-range, comprehensive, multi-disciplinary, community-wide
drug and alcohol abuse prevention planning and programs through
the formation and support of coalitions or partnerships of both
public and private organizations, agencies and institution,
consortia and partnerships within local communities.
WHEREAS, The City of Anaheim will become a major component
of the Orange County Substance Abuse prevention partnership's
application for office of substance abuse funds to coordinate
drug and alcohol abuse prevention programs in Orange County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Anaheim that:
1. The filing of an application for Office of Substance
Abuse Prevention Funds by the Orange County Substance Abuse
prevention partnership is hereby supported; and
2. The city Manager is hereby appointed as the City of
Anaheim's representative to conduct all negotiations, execute and
submit all documents, including but not limited to applications
and amendments which may be necessary for the completion of the
aforementioned application.
