A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM SUPPORTING THE IRVINE MEDICAL SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, the University of California at Irvine will
establish the Irvine Medical System; and
WHEREAS, the Irvine Medical System will operate the
Orange County Medical Center and several community clinics as
a part of an extensive medical education and medical research
program; and
WHEREAS, the Irvine Medical System plans include lo-
cating community clinics in areas of low income and high popula-
tion densities; and
WHEREAS, studies conducted by Orange County and by a
consultant to University of California Irvine indicate that such
an area is contained in the adjoining portions of Anaheim,
Fullerton and Placentia and is under served in health care; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim believes that the Irvine
Medical System as planned will provide substantial benefits to
the community and to society and merits support by the City of
Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim desires that a community
clinic, designated as Clinic 4 for the Irvine Medical System,
be located in the City of Anaheim.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Anaheim strongly urges the Orange County Board
of Supervisors /University of California at Irvine to locate a
community clinic in Anaheim and that the City staff he, and it
is hereby, authorized to enter into exploratory discussions with
the Irvine Medical System to determine a suitable location in
Anaheim.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
this 29th day of October, 1974.
