1975-028WHEREAS, the area in the vicinity of the Route 57 Free-
way was almost completely developed prior to the start of con-
struction; and
WHEREAS, the Route 57 Freeway bisects many established,
stable, and peaceful residential communities; and
WHEREAS, the people of these communities have enjoyed
quiet neighborhoods for a long period of time; and
WHEREAS, the freeway now under construction will sub-
stantially change the existing conditions in these neighborhoods;
and
WHEREAS, much of the negative noise and visual impacts
of the Route 57 Freeway are readily susceptible to mitigating
measures; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Anaheim does hereby request that the State of Califor-
nia give its highest priority to sound attenuation measures along
the impacted portions of the Route 57 Freeway; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the schedule for landscaping
of the freeway be moved ahead to coincide with the construction
timetable; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution
be sent to the Governor, all Orange County Legislators, Caltrans,
the California Highway Commission and the City of Orange.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
