90-338 RESOLUTION NO. 90R- 33g
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING THE RECOMMENDATIONS
OF THE IMPERIAL HIGHWAY SUPER STREET PROJECT
STUDY
WHEREAS, the goals and objectives of the Imperial Highway
Super Street Project are to develop conceptual engineering plans,
environmental checklist and a financing plan for the
implementation of high flow arterial improvements to Imperial
Highway; and
WHEREAS, a Draft Final Report has been prepared for the
Imperial Highway Super Street Project; and
WHEREAS, the improvements recommended for Imperial
Highway have been identified based on 1) improving traffic level
of service, 2) minimizing right-of-way acquisition, environmental
impacts and economic impacts, and 3) cost-effectiveness; and
WHEREAS, the improvements have been grouped into short
term (0 to 10 years) and long term (11 to 20 years) phases.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Anaheim as follows:
1. The City Council of the City of Anaheim does express
its support for the designation of Imperial Highway as a Super
Street;
2. To approve, in concept, the short term improvements
to Imperial Highway within the limits of the City of Anaheim
identified in the Imperial Highway Super Street Project Draft
Final Report, and Exhibit 1 of this resolution;
3. To express its intention to adopt an ordinance to
prohibit on-street parking on the portion of Imperial Highway
under City jurisdiction within the City limits of Anaheim upon
completion of the Super Street improvements;
4. To defer action on the long term improvements,
pending further analysis once year 2010 travel demand forecasts
are developed;
5. To encourage Caltrans and the Orange County Transit
District to develop a park-n-ride facility on the Caltrans parcel
bounded by Imperial Highway, SR-91 and the Santa Ana River.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 2gthday of g~gust, 1990.
