1976-280RESOLUTION NO. 76R- 280 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH ANAHEIM UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT ON THE JOINT USE OF LA PALMA PARK FACILITIES, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAME. WHEREAS, Chapter 6 of Division 12 of Part 3 of the Education Code, beginning with Section 16651, authorizes and empowers cities and school districts.to cooperate with one another for the purpose of organizing, promoting and conducting programs of community recreation, including the acquisition, construction, improvement, maintenance and operation of recreation centers; and WHEREAS, the'"Joint Exercise of Powers Act," being Article 1 of Chapter 5, Division 7 of Title 1 of the Government Code, beginning with Section 6500, permits a city and a school district to agree on the joint use of property owned by either for community recreation, education and for the general benefit and enjoyment of the public; and WHEREAS, by. virtue of an Agreement between the City of Anaheim and the Anaheim Union High School District dated March 21, 1956, as amended April 14, 1964, the City of Anaheim and the Anaheim Union High School District have cooperated in the construction.,'maintenance and use of the La Palma Park facilities, including Glover Stadium, in a spirit of mutual cooperation on behalf of the welfare of the students and citizens of the District and the citizens of the City; and WHEREAS, said Agreements will expire on June 30, 1976, unless the Anaheim Union High School District exercises its option to renew same for an additional twenty (20) years; and WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim and the Anaheim Union High School District desire to enter into a newi superseding agreement relative to said facilities for the period from July 1, 1976 to and including June 30, 1996, with District to have an option to renew same for an additional ten (10). years thereafter. WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Anaheim to enter into said agreement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the agreement this day submitted between the City of Anaheim and the Anaheirp. Union High School District providing for the joint use of La Palma Park facilities be, and the same is, hereby approved.
