A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM URGING SUPPORT OF PROPOSITION 8
ON IT
HE JUNE 8, 1976, BALLOT.
WHEREAS, the California State Constitution presently
authorized the Legislature to provide for the deposit of public
funds in banks only; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 8, if approved by California voters
on June 8, 1976, would extend this authorization to include savings
and loan associations; and
WHEREAS, this would permit both State and local govern-
ment to deposit funds in savings and loan accounts, thus generating
new revenue on public deposits; and
WHEREAS, this would stimulate housing activity by expand-
ing the financial base of the savings and loan industry which is
the leading source of funding for housing construction and purchas-
ing; and
WHEREAS, this would give both State and local government
additional flexibility in the deposit and investment of public
funds; and
WHEREAS, Public funds deposited with savings and loan
associations will be equally as secure as those funds deposited
with commercial banks; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 8 is deenred sound public policy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheimthatit does hereby support and endorse a
"Yes" vote on Pro -position 8 in the June 8, 1976 Primary Election.
