RESOLUTION NO. 76R-526
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM APPROVING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS
OF AN AGREEMENT FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA UNDERGROUND SERVICE ALERT
AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND
CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT ON BEHALF
OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM.
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim has been solicited along
with thirty-nine other Orange County governmental agencies and
utilities to participate in and support the Underground Service
Alert ("USA") Program in order to reduce the costs of damage to
underground utility facilities from excavation; and
WHEREAS, Anaheim's participation as an associate member
will provide a centralized, one -number call system to expedite
the location of underground installations prior to the beginning
of excavation work when a permit is issued by a local jurisdic-
tion; and
WHEREAS, the Electrical Superintendent for the City of
Anaheim has reviewed the USA Program and recommends Anaheim's
participation; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of
Anaheim to participate in said program; and
WHEREAS, an agreement with Southern California Gas
Company, Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company and General
Telephone Company of California has been prepared whereby the
City of Anaheim will participate in the said program as an asso-
ciate member; and
WHEREAS, the terms and conditions of said agreement
are acceptable to the City Council of the City of Anaheim.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the terms and con-
ditions of said agreement are hereby approved and accepted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk
be, and they are hereby, authorized and directed to execute said
agreement on behalf of the City Council of the City of Anaheim.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
this 31st day of August 1976.
