A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH ORANGE
UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
OF THE CANYON HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMING POOL AND
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY
CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM.
WHEREAS, the State of California has enacted legislation
designed to promote and preserve the health and general welfare of
the people of the State and to cultivate the development of good
citizenship by provisions for adequate programs of community
recreation; and, further, to authorize cities and public school
districts having powers to provide recreation to organize, promote,
and conduct such programs of community recreation as will contribute
to the attainment of general educational and recreational objectives
for children and adults of the State, which legislation is Chapter 6
of Division 12 of the Education Code of the State of California com-
mencing with Section 16651 et seq.; and
WHEREAS, the SCHOOL DISTRICT has entered into an agreement
for the design and construction of a swimming pool located in said
SCHOOL DISTRICT at Canyon High School, 220 S. Imperial Highway,
Anaheim, California; hereinafter referred to as "SWIMMING POOL and
WHEREAS, SCHOOL DISTRICT desires to construct and operate
said SWIMMING POOL in the manner set forth hereinbelow for the bene-
fit of the students attending the SCHOOL DISTRICT'S schools, and
for the benefit of the residents of Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to operate a recreational
program at said SWIMMING POOL; and
WHEREAS, as a result of the City's recreational program,
the City does desire to contribute toward the cost of said SWIMMING
POOL; and
WHEREAS, an agreement has this day been submitted covering
the construction, operation, maintenance, and reimbursement of said
SWIMMING POOL, the terms and conditions whereof are satisfactory
to the City of Anaheim.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that that certain agreement between the Orange
Unified School District and the City of Anaheim for the construction,
operation, maintenance, and reimbursement of the Canyon High School
SWIMMING POOL be, and the same is, hereby approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are
hereby authorized to execute this agreement for and on behalf of
the City of Anaheim.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is signed and approved by me
