A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM EXPRESSING ITS OPPOSITION TO THE
PROPOSED STUDY FOR THE CHINO HILLS AIRPORT
SITE AND URGING ALL CITIES TO WITHDRAW FROM
THEIR SUPPORT OF SAID PROPOSAL AND FURTHER
URGING SUPPORT. OF SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
NO. 19 FOR A REGIONAL PARK IN PLACE OF THE
PROPOSED AIRPORT SITE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim pursuant
to Resolution No. 76R -72 expressed its opposition to the proposed
Chino. Hills Airport; and
WHEREAS, a number of cities of the County of Orange have
continued to support the Chino Hills Airport; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim is deeply concerned with
Anaheim's environment and the environment of our neighboring
cities; and
WHEREAS, said proposed Airport would present a distinct
hazard to the environment of all cities in Orange County especially
North Orange County; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim is seeking the cooperation
of all the cities of the County of Orange to oppose the proposed
Chino Hills Airport; and
WHEREAS, State Senator Briggs has submitted Senate
Concurrent Resolution No. 19 which has passed the Senate and
was approved by the Assembly on May 2, 1977, proposing a study
of the feasibility of acquiring lands in the Chino Hills for
park purposes; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim supports Senate Concurrent
Resolution No. 19; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim further urges the Department
of Parks and Recreation of the State of California when conducting
its feasibility study to especially inquire as to the feasibility
of the proposed Airport site for said regional park.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that it expresses its opposition to the
proposed Chino Hills Airport.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council does urge
all cities in the County of Orange to withdraw their support from
the proposed Chino Airport site; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council does
herewith give its support to Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 19;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
directed to transmit copies of this Resolution to all cities in
the County of Orange.
