1977-176WHEREAS, Walt Disney Productions did create the cartoon
characters named Andy Anaheim and Annie Anaheim in 1956; and
WHEREAS, Walt Disney Productions entered into a twenty
(20) year license agreement on June 20, 1956, with the City of
Anaheim and the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce for the right to use
and depict said cartoon characters; and
WHEREAS, said license agreement and all rights thereun-
der for use of said cartoon characters by the City of Anaheim and
Anaheim Chamber of Commerce expired on June 20, 1976; and
WHEREAS, Walt Disney Productions has offered to perman-
ently assign and convey to the City of Anaheim and Anaheim Chamber
of Commerce, jointly, all rights, title and interest in and to the
drawings and other representations and use of said cartoon char-
acters, including the copyrights therein; and
WHEREAS, said assignment by Walt Disney Productions
would be made without cost or obligation to the City of Anaheim
and Anaheim Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim and Anaheim Chamber of
Commerce have heretofore indicated their desire to accept said
joint assignment and thereby obtain the exclusive joint right to
the use of said cartoon characters.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that the City of Anaheim accept, and it does
hereby, the assignment by Walt Disney Productions to the City of
Anaheim and Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, jointly, of all rights,
title and interest in and to the drawings and other representa-
tions of the cartoon characters named Andy Anaheim and Annie
Anaheim, created by Walt Disney Productions, including all copy-
rights therein.
