1977-722WHEREAS, in 1976, the City of Anaheim applied to the
California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for a grant of
SB 283 funds to construct a train station platform near Anaheim
Stadium in the City of Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, the grant request was approved and a contract
has been submitted to the City of Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, the proposed platform is to be located on the
right -of -way owned by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway
Company (Santa Fe); and
WHEREAS, in order to implement the platform development,
a contract with Santa Fe is required whereby Santa Fe personnel
will be responsible for the construction of such platform; and
WHEREAS, Santa Fe will not proceed until the National
Railroad Passenger Corporation (AMTRAK) has fully approved the
facility and approved a passenger stop on the corridor between
Los Angeles and San Diego at said location.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that a request be, and the same is hereby,
made to AMTRAK for a passenger train stop to be established on
the corridor between Los Angeles and San Diego at Anaheim Stadium
in the City of Anaheim, California.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 8th day of November
1977.
