1979-230WHEREAS, on October 31, 1978, President Carter
signed into law an amendment to Title VII of the Civil Rights
Act of 1964, (Public Law 95 -555) which requires employers
with employee benefit plans to provide coverage for
obstetrical care in the same manner as coverage for other
medical conditions; and
WHEREAS, the effective date for implementation of
said amendment is April 29, 1979; and
WHEREAS, an amendment to the Aetna Temporary
Disability Income Policy (Policy 3778) is necessary to provide
disability benefits for pregnancy on the same basis as other
medical conditions and to revise the premium rate effective
April 29, 1979; and
WHEREAS, such amendment has been prepared, the terms
of which are acceptable to the City Council of the City of
Anaheim.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the terms of
said amendment are hereby approved and accepted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Human Resources
Director be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to
execute said Amendment on behalf of the City of Anaheim.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by
the City Council of the City of Anaheim this 24th day of
April 1979.
