A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA, EXPRESSING ITS SUPPORT OF
THE EFFORTS OF THE CALIFORNIA MOSQUITO AND VECTOR
CONTROL ASSOCIATION AND THE ORANGE COUNTY VECTOR
CONTROL DISTRICT IN ACQUIRING STATE SUBVENTION
MONIES FROM THE STATE LEGISLATURE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS, the Orange County District is responsible
for the control and prevention of diseases such as malaria,
encephalitis, plague, dog heartworm, and other diseases
stemming from the proliferation of insects such as mosquitoes,
flies, gnats, fleas, and ticks; and
WHEREAS, the Orange County Vector Control District
along with 80 other Mosquito Abatement Districts in California
are in the position of losing 60% of their operating budget as
a result of the passage of Proposition 13; and
WHEREAS, there is available a subvention process to
fund the local Mosquito and Vector Control Districts through
Section 2426 of the California Health and Safety Code; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim
supports the efforts of the Orange County Vector Control
District and other local Mosquito and Vector Control Districts
and realizes its importance to the City of Anaheim and
Orange County.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Anaheim, California, wishes to support the
efforts of the California Mosquito and Vector Control Associa-
tion in acquiring funds from the State Legislature so that
the Orange County Vector Control District be allowed to perform
its services to the community during Fiscal Year 1979 -80.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution
be sent to the Orange County Vector Control District and the
County Board of Supervisors.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by
the City Council of the City of Anaheim this 13th day of
February 1979.
