A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHET QU ESTING THE STATE
LEGISLATURE TO CREATE A NEW STATE
HIGHWAY DISTRICT FOR ORANGE COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the County of Orange is Presently included
within State Highway District and State Transportation District
7, which also includes Los Angeles and Ventura Counties; and
WHEREAS, the Placement of California's two most
populous counties in the sam CalTrans District has caused
severe financial hardships for Orange County; and
WEERFAS, approximately 8"4 of all the People within
the State of California reside within tha County of Orange
and contribute a like percentage of all the as tax funds
collected; and.
WHEREAS, only l.f;'" of the monies proposed for State
highway construction are within Orange County; and
WFEREAS, this obvious inequity could be re
by the formation of a new CalTrans District which is contiguous
with the boundaries of Orange County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim that the 1979 State Legislature is
hereby requested to adopt legislation creating a new state
highway district consisting solely of Orange County, with the
provision that such district shall henceforth receive an
appropriate share of all funds to be expended for the construction,
maintenance and operation of State highways within. the County of
Orange;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all members of the State
Legislature representing the County of Orange ar hereby
rx!uested to co-sponsor legislation creating such a new state
hiFhway district.
THE EORECOING RESOLUTION is adopted and approved by
th:= City Council of the City of Anaheim this 23d day of
January 1979.
