90-063 RESOLUTION NO. 90R-63
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING FUNDING TO
THE CALIFORNIA-NEVADA SUPER-SPEED TRAIN
GROUND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, the California-Nevada Super-Speed Ground
Transportation Commission ("Commission") has been established
pursuant to the California-Nevada Super-Speed Ground
Transportation Act to consider and pursue development of a
super-speed ground transportation system connecting southern
California with southern Nevada; and
WHEREAS, on October 27, 1989 the Commission made a
commitment that the Super-Speed Train would serve the cities of
Las Vegas and Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, construction and implementation of the Las
Vegas-Anaheim Super-Speed Train will ultimately provide increased
tourism and major economic benefits to City of Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, on January 12, 1990 the City received a request
from Paul Taylor, Executive Director of the Commission, for Two
Hundred Thousand Dollars ($Z00,000.00) to support its calendar
1990 year work program; and
WHEREAS, while the Commission anticipates that the
project will ultimately be funded by the private sector,
preliminary work must be performed to identify the most
advantageous private-sector proposal and to obtain more detailed
analysis of the terminus locations for the super speed train; and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that a contribution by the
City will be used to complete the process of identifying a
conditional franchisee, with a primary emphasis on evaluating
proposals for the Anaheim terminal.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Anaheim hereby provides funding in the amount of Two
Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00) to the California-Nevada
Super-Speed Train Commission.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this27th day of February ,
1990.
