1979-262WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim relies on importation of
water from the State Water Project by the Metropolitan Water
District of Southern California; and
WHEREAS, construction of the Peripheral Canal in the
Sacramento -San Joaauin Delta is ur needed in order to help
relieve the State Project of water deficiencies and protect the
Delta environment; and
WHEREAS, TIetropolitan proposes le that would
require prompt construction of the Peripheral Canal and related
Delta facilities, independently of prior congressional =a o! roval
or state authorization of other water facilities, since that ap-
proval or authorization could extensively delay Peripheral Canal
construction; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that it supports legislation reauirina prompt
construction of the Peripheral Canal and r elated Delta facilities,
independently of prior congressional approval or state authoriza-
tion of other water facilities, as proposed by The Metropolitan
Water District of Southern California.
