A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM SETTING F LOCAL CONDITIONS
JUSTIFYING AN AMENDMENT TO THE UNIFORM BUILD-
ING CODE, 1976 EDITION.
WHEREAS, Health and Safety Code Section 17958.5 provides
for a city to make chanres or modifications in the Uniform Building
Code, 1976 Edition, as are reasonably necessary because of local
conditions; and
WHEREAS, Health and Safety Code Section 17958.7 requires
the City Council to make express findings of the necessity for modi-
fications in the Uniform Building Code before adopting such changes;
and
WHEREAS, the Chief. Building Inspector of the City of
Anaheim has recommended that Section 1716 of the Uniform Building
Code, 1976 Edition, be amended cite to certain hereinafter stated
local conditions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the amendment to
Section 1716 of the Uniform BuildinG Code, 1976 Edition, recommended
by the Chief Building Inspector is hereby expressly found to be ne-
cessary on account of local conditions as follows:

The City of Anaheim is a city of high tourism. Because
of the family oriented attractions and annzse_,r_ent parks
within the City and vicinity, a substantial percentage
of all transient accommodation occupants within the
City are families with small children. Consequently,
it is necessary to amend the ;guardrail spacin.; rerui.re-
ments as set forth in Section 1716 of the Uniform
Building Code, 1976 Edition, for the safety and welfare
of such children who otherwise might not be ao_ecuately
protected by such guardrails.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution

toether with a copy of the Ordinance adopting the herein specified
amendment to the Uniform Building, Code, 1976 Edition, be filed with
the State Department of Housing and Community Development.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is aaproved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim. this 23rd day of October, 1979.
