A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM REQUESTING AND URGING THE SOUTHERN
PACIFIC TRANSPORTATION COMPANY TO EXPEDITE THE
INSTALLATION OF CROSSING PROTECTION AT THE
INTERSECTION OF SANTA ANA STREET AND WEST STREET
IN THE CITY OF ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS, several automobile and train collisions,
or near collisions, have occurred at the intersection of
Santa Ana Street and West Street in the City of Anaheim,
California, as the result of inadequate railroad crossing
protection provided at said intersection; and
WHEREAS, the Public Utilities Commission has here-
tofore approved the installation of crossing protection at
said location, including gates and flashers; and
WHEREAS, construction plans and specifications for
said devices have been completed and said construction has
been given a priority by the Department of Transportation of
the State of California (Caltrans) in its priority listing
dated August 28, 1979.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Anaheim does hereby request and urge the South-
ern Pacific Transportation Company to expedite the installation
of the hereinabove described crossing protection at the inter-
section of Santa Ana Street and West Street at the earliest
possible date as provided for in the priority listing from
Caltrans dated August 28, 1979.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted
by the City Council of the City of Anaheim this 2nd day of
October, 1979.
