A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM REQUESTING AND URGING THE PUBLIC
UTILITIES COMMISSION TO GIVE THE HIGHEST
PRIORITY TO EXPEDITING THE INSTALLATION OF
CROSSING GATES OR OTHER PROTECTION AT THE
LOARA STREET CROSSING BK -508.4 IN THE CITY OF
ANAHEIM LOCATED ON THE SANTA ANA BRANCH OF THE
SOUTHERN PACIFIC TRANSPORTATION COMPANY.
WHEREAS, the Loara Street Crossing BK -508.4 in
the City of Anaheim located on the Santa Ana Branch of the
Southern Pacific Transportation Company has an adverse
accident history of 16 collisions between trains and vehicles
from 1970 through March 1978; and
WHEREAS, Loara Street at the crossing area is one
block long, located between Lincoln Avenue and Manchester
Avenue; and
WHEREAS, southbound motorists have obstructed
views of the said crossing; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore held a
public hearing and determined that it is in the public
interest not to close Loara Street at said railroad crossing.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City
Council of the City of Anaheim does hereby request and urge
the Public Utilities Commission to give the highest priority
to expediting the installation of crossing gates or other
protection at the Loara Street Crossing BK -508.4 in the City
of Anaheim location on the Santa Ana Branch of the Southern
Pacific Transportation Company.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted
by the City Council of the City of Anaheim this 2nd day of
October, 1979.
