A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING THE
SUBMITTAL OF AN APPLICATION FOR A
FEDERAL GRANT PURSUANT TO THE YOUTH
GANG DRUG PREVENTION PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) of
the Administration on Children Youth and Families (ACYF) of the
United States Department of Health and Human Services has
available funds for a program to conduct community-based,
comprehensive and coordinated activities to reduce and prevent
the involvement of youth in gangs that engage in illicit drug-
related activities; and,
WHEREAS, the city of Anaheim supports the purpose of
the ACYF Youth Gang Drug Prevention Program, which is to assist
communities in controlling the spread of gang and drug-related
activities through the prevention, early intervention and
diversion of at-risk youth from gang membership;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that:
1. The submittal of an application for a
discretionary grant under the Youth Gang Drug Prevention Program
is hereby approved;
2. The grant application shall be for the project as
described in the Program Narrative Statement of the application
(the "Project").
3. The total Project cost shall not exceed One
Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00) per year for a period not to
exceed five years and the City of Anaheim will provide a matching
contribution equal to twenty-five percent (25%) of the total
program cost in cash or in-kind services as required by
applicable grant regulations.
4. The city Manager is hereby appointed as the
representative of the city of Anaheim to conduct all negotiations
and is authorized to execute and submit all documents including,
but not limited to, applications and amendments which may be
necessary for the completion of the aforementioned application.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted ~ the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 12th day of
