A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING AN APPLICATION
FOR FUNDS UNDER SECTION 8 OF TITLE II OF
THE HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ACT
OF 1974.
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim has adopted a Housing
Assistance Plan, which plan is a part of the City of Anaheim's
application for Title I Community Development Block Grants
under the Housing and Community Act of 1974; and
WHEREAS, said Housing Assistance Plan reflects, as a
three -year goal, 1,252 units of existing housing to be funded
under Section 8 of Title II of the Housing and Community
Development Act of 1974; and
WHEREAS, a fire in the City of Anaheim on April 21,
1982, destroyed 524 units of the City's rental stock; and
WHEREAS, 240 low and moderate income families were
left homeless by the fire; and
WHEREAS, there is a need for at least 200 units of
replacement housing under the Section 8 Existing Program; and
WHEREAS, in order to achieve the 6th year goal of
the Housing Assistance Plan for the City of Anaheim, 931 units
of existing Housing remains to be funded under Section 8.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Anaheim City
Council does support the submission of an application to the
Department of Housing and Urban Development for funding under
Section 8 of Title II for 200 existing housing units and
authorizes the Mayor to execute a letter of support.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by
the City Council of the City of Anaheim this 20th day of July,
1982.
