A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM URGING THE ORANGE COUNTY DIVISION
OF THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES TO SUPPORT
LEGISLATION PERMITTING THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES
RETIREMENT SYSTEM BOARD OF ADMINiS'Tl~.ATIOiv Z'O
REIMBURSE LOCAL AGENCIES FOR ALL THE COSTS OF
WAGES AND BENEFITS PAID TO MEMBERS OF THE
BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION BY THE LOCAL AGENCIES.
WHEREAS, the Board of Administration of the Public
Employees Retirement System includes employees of both State
and local governments; and
WHEREAS, State law provides that members of the
Board of Administration who are not regular employees of the
State, or a contracting agency, are provided with per diems
and expenses for time spent in Board of Administration
meetings; and
WHEREAS, the PERS does pay the cost of travel and
expenses, but does not reimburse the governmental agency for
the wages and benefits paid to the employee for the time
spent on the Board of Administration; and
WHEREAS, members of the Board of Administration are
required to spend many hours of time away from the jobs in
the State and local governments; and
WHEREAS, the cost of time and loss of productivity
of these employees is burdensome on the local agencies.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
Anaheim does urge the Orange County Division of the League of
California Cities to support legislation permitting the
Public Employees Retirement System Board of Administration to
reimburse local agencies for all the costs of wages and
benefits paid to members of the Board of Administration by the
local agencies.
